Fulltime internship Internship program Science
The Akamai Internship Program is a unique program that combines coursework, a project in high tech, and communication skill building. Through the Akamai Program, college students are placed at a company or observatory on Maui, Hawaii Island, or Pasadena, California. Each student completes a project with guidance and mentoring by an engineer or scientist.
Positions available on Maui, Big Island and Pasadena, California
• 40-hour preparatory short course
• 7-week project at a technical facility
• Technical communication course which helps interns prepare an abstract, oral presentation, personal statement and resume
• Final presentation at Akamai symposium
Participants are required to complete the entire eight week program and require full-time commitment. Participants must attend all scheduled activities, attend weekly meetings and complete weekly assignments. Participants receive communication training and coaching and give an oral presentation at the end of the summer.
All students must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent resident, be at least 18 years old and a Hawaii resident.
This program is designed for all community college and university undergraduates in Hawaii –- and kama`aina studying on the mainland who are pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields.
